Naples cracks down on weapons: 467 seizures in the last three months

Naples and the metropolitan area are placing the greatest emphasis on the illegal possession and use of weapons. By order of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, an extraordinary territorial control plan has been activated, specifically aimed at combating the phenomenon and preventing crime, petty crime, and the activities of youth gangs.

The measure, coordinated by the Prefecture of Naples, primarily affects areas with a high concentration of residents and tourists, as well as the city's nightlife hotspots.

Prefect Michele di Bari emphasized that the illegal use of weapons has "profound consequences for public safety and the social fabric," necessitating "absolute rigor in the application of control regulations" and the constant promotion of a culture of legality.

According to the numbers, law enforcement's efforts have yielded significant results. Over the past three months, a total of 467 firearms, bladed weapons, long weapons, ammunition, and explosives have been seized.

The figure includes approximately 173 seizures made in July, including handguns, long guns, bladed weapons, bullets, ammunition, and explosives. In August, 151 weapons and ammunition of various types were seized.

Since September 1st, another 143 weapons and ammunition have been seized in the area. For the Prefecture, seizures represent a central element of its broader control and prevention strategy, including the fight against predatory crime and organized crime.

Attention to the phenomenon therefore remains high. The plan calls for strengthening preventive measures and controls, along with the rigorous enforcement of administrative measures to prohibit the possession of weapons when the conditions are met.
