Volturara Irpina – A scary day for the owner of "Giorgio," a Maremma Hound who ended up in a steep gorge on Mount Partenio, in the province of Avellino. The animal was rescued only after hours of operations by the Fire Department, which had to resort to a helicopter from its base in Pontecagnano.
It all started in the early hours of the morning, when the dog, while out for a walk, slipped into a ravine with particularly rugged terrain. The owner repeatedly attempted to reach him, but all efforts were in vain due to the inaccessibility of the rocky ridge where the animal was stuck.
The Fire Department then arrived on the scene and, after carefully assessing the situation, decided to activate air rescue. Thanks to the helicopter, rescuers were able to recover "Giorgio" without any injuries. The animal was then returned to his owner, who was relieved that the operation had a happy ending.
