Torre Annunziata, a city scarred by years of mafia infiltration, is preparing for a new civil battle with the creation of the Civic Committee "Commissari Siamo Noi." The initiative stems from the recent dissolution of the City Council due to criminal infiltration, an event that highlighted how since 2013, the city has been constantly under the shadow of unlawful control that has undermined the relationship of trust between institutions and citizens.

The Committee appeals to citizens, the judiciary, law enforcement, the press, and local and national institutions, inviting them to participate in a process of civic and social redemption. The goal is clear: to definitively banish mafia influence and return Torre Annunziata to its rightful owners, namely, honest citizens.

The committee has established two concrete objectives. The first is to request the state and the relevant institutions to rid the area of the criminal organizations that have been hindering its development for decades. The second objective involves an extraordinary phase for the city, demanding that no candidate lists be presented in the next local elections, thus allowing the continuation of the commissionership until the city is returned to its citizens.

"We are the commissioners: we, the citizens," the committee states, emphasizing the need for the State to return Torre Annunziata to its residents, freeing it from the criminal-political siege. The city must return to being a place of legality, safety, and dignity, overcoming the current conditions that can no longer be tolerated.

The message is a unanimous call to the entire community for a shared commitment, because only by freeing Torre Annunziata from all forms of conditioning will it be possible to restore the prestige and dignity it deserves, while respecting its history and identity.
