Afragola – Branco humiliates an elderly man: the perpetrators were caught on video. The investigation began within hours. Two minors are among those responsible. The victim is too scared to report the incident.

They transformed the humiliation of a defenseless elderly man into a macabre spectacle to share on social media. But that video became the main evidence to frame them. Within hours of the images being released, officers from the Afragola Police Station identified and took to the station the three perpetrators of the harassment that took place in the Salicelle neighborhood: an adult and two minors.

The public denunciation and the immediate turning point

The operation was triggered by a public complaint and a formal report sent to the authorities by Green-Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli. This intervention allowed the gang members to be identified in record time.

"We want to express our sincere thanks to the Afragola Police Station, led by Deputy Commissioner Manuela Marafioti, for their extraordinary swift response," said Borrelli, along with Europa Verde's territorial representative, Salvatore Iavarone. "The immediate identification demonstrates that the State is there and that we cannot turn a blind eye to such barbaric acts."

Victim without complaint, but the investigation continues

Despite the seriousness of the incident, one factor threatens to complicate the legal process: the elderly man, likely fearful or resigned, has not filed a complaint. However, the case will not be automatically closed. The documents are already being examined by the judicial authorities, who may proceed ex officio with the prosecutable offenses.

Zero tolerance and the appeal to the judiciary

Precisely for this reason, calls for a severe judicial response are being raised from the political front. "Now we demand that justice be carried out to the very end. It is essential that exemplary sanctions be applied," Borrelli urges. "Whoever humiliates a defenseless elderly person by turning their abuse into a social media spectacle must pay. We will not retreat until this trend of youth violence and degradation is stopped with the firmness it deserves."
