Naples: Tourists fall ill at the train station, rescued by the Army and Railway Police.
Law enforcement continues to conduct checks in the Piazza Garibaldi area and inside Naples Central Station. As part of the extraordinary "Safe Stations" plan, officers from the Railway Police Department, supported by the Campania Crime Prevention Unit, have completed a large-scale security operation resulting in four arrests. The alleged crimes range from drug dealing to predatory crimes, including serious incidents of violence against individuals.
The most alarming incident involved the arrest of a foreign citizen, found to be illegally resident in Italy, accused of sexual assault against a minor right inside the train station. On the petty crime front, police stopped a man at a subway stop immediately after he stole a tourist's wallet.
Tense moments also erupted at the station's Food Hall, where a burglar stole several drinks and then attacked and threatened the business owner and a security guard who intervened to help him.
The operation eventually expanded to the surrounding streets, targeting local drug dealing hubs. Inside a shop on Corso Novara, officers caught a man selling a dose of cocaine to a buyer. Immediately searched, the dealer was found in possession of additional doses of the drug ready to be placed on the market, prompting immediate arrest.
