Capri will remember Peppino di Capri with a square and an annual award in his honor.

Capri – A square and an annual award to perpetuate the bond between Capri and Peppino di Capri, the artist who passed away last Saturday at the age of 86. The Municipality has announced the beginning of procedures to name a city space after the Capri singer and pianist and establish an award in his memory.

The initiative was announced by Mayor Paolo Falco and the municipal administration, who intend to award the prize annually to an artist who stands out through a performance on Capri.
"The City of Capri," reads the statement released by the Municipality, "wants to express the entire community's gratitude to one of its illustrious sons."

Peppino di Capri, with his talent and a career spanning generations, brought the island's name to Italy and the world, linking it to a musical and cultural heritage recognized far beyond national borders.

For the administration, this is "an act of profound gratitude and a moral duty" towards an artist whose legacy is destined to remain a heritage for future generations.
