Naples – The family of Domenico Caliendo, the almost two-and-a-half-year-old boy who died at Naples' Monaldi Hospital after an unsuccessful heart transplant, has requested the Claims Assessment Committee's conclusions regarding the proposed out-of-court settlement for compensation.

The announcement was made by Francesco Petruzzi, the lawyer representing the child's parents, who filed a request for access to the documents.

"We have submitted a request to know the conclusions reached by the Claims Assessment Committee regarding the request for an out-of-court settlement for compensation from the parents of little Domenico Caliendo," explains the professional.

"No communication to the family"

According to the lawyer, the evaluation process is now complete. However, to date, the family has not received any formal notification or communication regarding the outcome of the procedure.

"We find it inexplicable," Petruzzi states, "that despite the lengthy evaluation process having been completed, no invitations have yet been sent to us."

The goal: to address the criminal process

The request is part of a series of initiatives launched by the child's parents, which aim to resolve the compensation issue out of court, without overlapping with the legal proceedings.
"As the child's mother and father have already emphasized," the lawyer adds, "our goal is to proceed to the criminal trial free from the worry of civil proceedings."

The family, assisted by their lawyers and consultants, is now waiting to examine the documents and learn the Committee's position on the compensation request.
