Naples – The strike by workers at the Naples headquarters of Zenita Group Spa, called by Fiom Cgil, Fim Cisl, and Uilm Uil Napoli against the company's decision to close the Naples site and transfer approximately 120 workers between Rome and Salerno, concluded with a meeting at the Prefecture.
The protest comes two days after the meeting at Mimit, during which the opening of the procedure was announced. The demonstration was well attended, with almost all employees participating.
During the meeting, the Prefecture committed to convening a discussion forum shortly involving, in addition to the trade unions, the Zenita Group management and the Campania Region. The meeting could be held as early as early next week.
"We have presented all the specific aspects of the dispute," explained Mauro Cristiani, general secretary of Fiom Cgil Naples, and Adele De Cocco, head of the union's IT sector. The unions also delivered the letter sent in recent days to the President of the Region, Roberto Fico, and the relevant councilors.
At the heart of the dispute is the use of public funds allocated by Mimit in agreement with the Campania Region for research and development projects, which would require the company to maintain a presence in the Neapolitan area for at least five years after the conclusion of the activities.
"Zenita Group," Cristiani and De Cocco emphasize, "has projects expiring after 2027, but has nevertheless decided to leave Naples." Hence the request to the Region to intervene to verify compliance with obligations and prevent any potential misuse of public resources.
