An elderly man was beaten in a Grumo Nevano square: he is in critical condition. An 18-year-old was arrested for attempted murder.

What happened in Grumo Nevano, documented in a video that went viral on social media, is a vivid representation of a generational divide: a symptom of social anger that today finds its only immediate outlet in physical aggression, a response to the simple law of the strongest.

The spark and the chaos

It all started with an exchange that quickly escalated. On one side, a group of very young people; on the other, some older locals. The reasons for the argument are still unclear, but within moments, insults and shoving were flying.

Tensions flared when a nearby club, frequented by local retirees, shattered a window: an act of vandalism attributed to the youths. From there, the inevitable escalation: a slap, then total chaos.

Cold football and anger

In the midst of the scuffle, an eighteen-year-old man punched a man. A seventy-year-old man bravely tried to intervene to separate them, but in the confusion, he lost his balance and fell onto the asphalt. Just as he lay helpless on the ground, the blind violence began: the young man delivered a vicious kick to the man's face.

The elderly man immediately lost consciousness, hitting his head and leaving a bloodstain on the asphalt. This all happened before the shocked eyes of a mother who was passing by holding her daughter's hand, forced to witness a scene of pure brutality.

The arrest and the rescue

The emergency number was immediately called. Carabinieri officers from the Grumo Nevano station, who promptly arrived on the scene, began their investigation, gathering witness statements and analyzing video surveillance footage from the area. Within hours, officers were able to identify and track down the perpetrator of the attack. The 18-year-old was arrested and charged with attempted murder; he is now facing prison sentences.

The victim is currently hospitalized in Frattamaggiore with a critical prognosis, fighting for his life.
