Naples: Father and son attacked over a rag: "Seven or eight of us were beaten."

Naples – A father and son, both cleaning a condominium, were reportedly attacked on Via Stadera in Naples following an argument over the use of a rag found on the stairs of a building. According to the complaint, the two sustained such injuries that they required emergency medical assistance and were taken to the hospital.

One of the two workers reconstructed the incident, saying he filed a complaint with the Carabinieri and told the story to Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of the Green-Side Alliance.

The discussion in the building

According to the victim's account, the father and son were inside an apartment building on Via Stadera doing cleaning work. The two allegedly used a rag found on the stairs, believing they could use it, as they had done on other occasions, with materials provided by residents.

Shortly thereafter, they were approached by several people who identified themselves as the rag's owners. The young man reported being threatened and trying to clear up the misunderstanding, explaining that the material had been taken by mistake and immediately returned.

"One of them told me, 'Don't you dare do that again, next time I'll put it around your neck,'" he said. "I asked them why they were so angry, but in a matter of moments, my father and I were attacked by seven or eight people."

The beating and the rescue

The victim claims the group violently attacked both of them. "We were beaten to death. It's absurd to go out to work, earning a few dozen euros a day, and then end up in the hospital for a rag," the young man said, still in shock.

The father and son managed to escape and attempted to contact the police. According to their account, emergency medical services arrived on the scene, providing first aid and arranging for their transportation to the hospital.
The worker also reported that several people had witnessed the scene without intervening. "Some were filming and even laughing," he said, adding that some bystanders had urged him not to file a complaint because the attackers were "bad people."

Borrelli: "The violence is unacceptable."

MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli spoke out about the incident, expressing his solidarity with the victims and calling for a swift investigation into their responsibilities.
"We are facing brutal and unjustifiable violence that cannot and must not go unpunished," Borrelli declared. "It is shocking that in Naples someone could end up in the hospital for using a cleaning rag. Law enforcement and the judiciary must quickly identify all those responsible for this vile beating."
The parliamentarian called for severe consequences for those responsible: "Without a firm response, we risk further fueling the sense of impunity and oppression. Victims must not be left alone."
