Pasquale Stanislaus Mancini Street
Naples – In the heart of La Maddalena, one of Naples' historic markets just steps from Piazza Garibaldi, an attempted robbery turned into a violent beating of the owners of a business. One of the alleged attackers was arrested, while the search for his accomplice continues unabated.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning on Via Pasquale Stanislao Mancini. Officers from the Vicaria-Mercato police station, engaged in routine patrols, noticed a man wandering around, acting suspiciously. They then decided to stop him for a check.
While conducting the investigation, the officers were approached by the owners of a local business. The shopkeepers reported that a few minutes earlier, the man and an accomplice had brutally attacked them in an attempt to steal the business's takings.
The victims' statements were immediately confirmed by investigators, who arrested the 37-year-old Pakistani citizen believed to be involved in the assault.
The investigation is now focused on identifying the accomplice, who managed to disappear after the attack. Investigators are acquiring and analyzing footage from video surveillance systems in the area, aiming to reconstruct the details of the incident and identify the second robber.
It cannot be ruled out that the two may be involved in other similar incidents that have occurred in recent weeks in the Maddalena market area, one of the city's busiest shopping areas.
