Ischia: Seven young people end up in hospital after a night out at the disco; three are in an alcoholic coma.

It was a night of terror in Ischia, where seven young people, including some minors, were admitted to the Anna Rizzoli hospital after suffering serious illnesses during a night at a nightclub in Casamicciola Terme.

The incident occurred during an event featuring guest DJs, which had attracted a particularly large crowd. The first alarm was raised shortly after 2:30 a.m., when a young man fell ill near the venue's bar and was escorted outside by security personnel. Within less than an hour, six other young people lost consciousness, triggering a complex rescue effort.

Police intervention and evacuation

Meanwhile, a patrol from the Ischia Police Station was already on the scene conducting a check. The officers, having noted the seriousness of the situation and the presence of several unconscious youths, immediately ordered the music to stop and the nightclub to be evacuated, thus allowing emergency responders to operate safely.

To deal with the emergency, all three ambulances available on the island were used, transporting the seven young people to the emergency room of the Rizzoli Hospital.

Three cases of alcoholic coma, the others affected by the heat

According to initial medical tests, three of the boys were hospitalized with a diagnosis of alcohol-induced coma. For the other four, doctors suspect heat stroke, likely caused by the high temperatures and humidity inside the crowded venue.

Fortunately, the conditions of all the young people are deemed stable and none are in danger of life, although the patients remain hospitalized under observation.

Checks on the capacity of the premises

Authorities are now reconstructing the exact circumstances of the incident. Among the aspects being examined by investigators is the actual presence of people inside the nightclub.

According to some witnesses, several hundred people were present in the venue, despite the authorized capacity of approximately 150, according to initial information. This information will be verified by the competent authorities and, should any safety violations or other irregularities be discovered, could lead to action against the manager.
