Earthquake damage in Pozzuoli
Naples – A powerful earthquake shook the Phlegraean Fields and the entire Neapolitan hinterland. The quake, recorded by INGV seismographs at 19:46 PM with a magnitude of 4.7 and epicenter in Pozzuoli, was the most intense event since the recent bradyseismic earthquake returned to the area.
The provisional toll is four minor injuries, hospitalized with yellow code; fortunately, their conditions are not worrying.
The authorities responded immediately. The National Roads Authority (ANAS) activated emergency protocols to inspect the province's main roads—including the Statale Domitiana, the Asse Mediano, and the sections connecting Pozzuoli, Quarto, Giugliano, and Naples. Initial assessments revealed no structural damage to the road system.
The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, immediately contacted the mayors of the municipalities closest to the epicenter, Pozzuoli and Bacoli, and ordered an urgent meeting of the Relief Coordination Center (CCS). The operational team will monitor the situation both in the Phlegraean Fields and in the city of Naples, where the earthquake was clearly felt by the population, forcing many people into the streets.
