A 17-year-old boy dives into the Volturno River and disappears: he is found dead.

The long day of searching along the Volturno River, in the Benevento area, ended in dire straits. After hours of searching, the lifeless body of a 17-year-old boy of Egyptian origin, who disappeared in the early afternoon after diving into the river near Amorosi, was found.

The young man was a guest at a shelter in San Marco Evangelista, in the province of Caserta, and was spending a few hours with friends when the tragedy occurred.

The alarm raised by friends

The boys who were with him raised the alarm. After seeing the 17-year-old dive into the Volturno River, they didn't see him resurface and immediately called for help, triggering the emergency response.

Firefighters from the Telese Terme detachment and the Benevento Provincial Command responded to the scene. Firefighter divers from Naples, 118 personnel, and Carabinieri from the Cerreto Sannita Company also participated in the search.

Hours of research in the Volturno

Rescuers extensively searched the stretch of the Volturno River that runs alongside a picnic area in the municipality of Amorosi. Operations continued for several hours, until the tragic discovery of the young man's body.

The news left his friends present on site and the community workers who hosted him in despair.
