A business in the Salerno area closed: 9 out of 10 employees were working illegally.

San Cipriano Picentino – Nine workers out of a total of ten present, including a 15-year-old boy, were caught in the black market. This is the result of the raid that took place on the evening of Saturday, August 8th, in San Cipriano Picentino, where inspection personnel from the Salerno Territorial Labor Inspectorate (ITL) sealed off a local public establishment.

The raid and the huge fine

The inspections, part of an extraordinary plan to monitor public establishments in the area, revealed widespread irregularities. Within the business, inspectors found 10 employees performing their duties, but nine of them had never received prior notice of employment.

This almost total illegality immediately triggered a suspension of the business's activity, accompanied by a large fine.

A minor at work and safety regulations violated

The situation criticized by ITL officials was further aggravated by the presence of a 15-year-old minor among the workforce, employed in violation of legal protections. The inspection also revealed serious irregularities regarding worker protection: a complete lack of health surveillance, failure to comply with fire prevention regulations, and the lack of suitable changing rooms for staff.

Illegal cameras and scores to settle

The investigation finally shed light on the unauthorized installation of a video surveillance system, used to monitor the workplace in violation of the Workers' Statute. Between heavy fines for employing unregistered personnel and complaints regarding safety regulations, the total fines imposed on the business owner amount to approximately €66.000.
