The judicial investigation will determine the cause of the road accident that tragically left one dead and three injured, which occurred around 5:00 a.m. on State Road 18 in Spinazzo, in the Capaccio-Paestum area of the Salerno province.
Fabio Barlotti, a 33-year-old local, was killed. He was driving an Audi A3 when, for reasons still under investigation, he collided with another car carrying four young people.
The impact was extremely violent and there was nothing that could be done for Barlotti: he died instantly.
The occupants of the other car were also seriously injured. Two girls, aged 17 and 22, both residents of Ceraso, were seriously injured and were transported to San Luca Hospital in Vallo della Lucania, where they remain in critical condition.
A 21-year-old man from Moio della Civitella was also injured and taken to Ruggi d'Aragona Hospital in Salerno. The fourth young man in the car was unharmed.
The Fire Brigade, Highway Police, and Carabinieri responded to the scene. Investigators conducted the necessary investigations to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the accident and establish any responsibilities.
The news deeply shocked Capaccio Paestum. Fabio Barlotti was well-known and well-liked in the community. He worked as a mechanic alongside his father in the family workshop in the main town of Capaccio.
A life marked by work, love, and passion, suddenly interrupted on the asphalt of State Road 18. Many messages on social media are appearing both on his social media page and on those of friends and relatives who remember him fondly.
Among Barlotti's passions was motorcycles, an interest he shared with his girlfriend and which was an important part of his life alongside his work in the family workshop.
The Mayor of Capaccio-Paestum, Paolino, expressed his deepest condolences on behalf of the municipal administration and the entire community.
"This morning, Capaccio Paestum was shocked by tragic news: the death of one of our young fellow citizens," declared the mayor, expressing his condolences to Fabio's family and friends.
The mayor also spared a thought for the other young people involved in the crash, emphasizing that, according to information received, some of them are in serious condition: "Our prayers go out to them and their families."
The exact circumstances of the horrific collision that claimed Fabio Barlotti's life remain unclear. Law enforcement investigations will continue to reconstruct every stage of the accident. The two cars have been impounded, while the driver of the car that Fabio Barlotti's Audi collided with has undergone all necessary tests to determine whether he was fit to drive at the time of impact.
In addition to the causes of the accident and the young man's death, investigators will also have to establish any responsibilities.
