Gianturco Square in Afragola, where the robbery took place
Afragola – A Saturday afternoon in Afragola was spent in handcuffs, where State Police arrested a 23-year-old man for aggravated robbery. The foreigner, an illegal immigrant and already known to law enforcement, was also charged with violating a previous order to stay away.
The incident began this morning, when a man showed up at the Afragola Police Station to file a complaint. The victim told officers he had been approached and robbed shortly before in Piazza Gianturco: a criminal had ripped the gold necklace from around his neck and then fled.
Once the manhunt was launched, the police immediately got to work. Thanks to the analysis of local surveillance cameras, they were able to quickly identify the perpetrator. The 23-year-old was located and apprehended by officers on Via Ciaramella, also in Afragola, before he could disappear. He was immediately arrested.
