A doctor and a nurse were attacked at a Benevento local health authority facility while attempting to ensure patient privacy. The incident drew strong condemnation from the Medical Association.

Attack in Benevento: Doctors and nurses attacked at a healthcare facility
During a workday, a serious incident of violence involved healthcare workers within a facility of the Benevento Local Health Authority. Paolo Cavalli, director of the Complex Operations Unit of the Mental Health Department, was attacked by a non-patient while he was in the corridors of the clinics.
During the fight, a nurse who intervened to help Cavalli suffered injuries. The attack apparently stemmed from a request to the man to leave the premises, a measure necessary to protect the privacy of the patients present. The prompt intervention of the Carabinieri allowed the attacker to be arrested, avoiding further consequences.
The Benevento Medical Association has expressed its strong condemnation, emphasizing that violence against healthcare workers represents an attack not only on individual professionals, but on the entire community's right to health.
According to President Luca Milano, it is essential that doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers can perform their work safely and without fear, since no provocation or frustrated situation can justify such aggressive behavior.
