Campi Flegrei: Dog rescued from a collapsing building

In Pozzuoli, a dog was rescued by the Carabinieri from a building declared uninhabitable. Meanwhile, many residents are facing hardship and risk returning to their homes damaged by the earthquake.

This morning, the Carabinieri located a dog inside a building declared unfit for habitation in Olivetti Park in Pozzuoli, a part of the Campi Flegrei area. The animal appears to have been caught in falling debris caused by the recent earthquake.

One of the soldiers climbed over the building's gate and rescued the dog. They are now actively tracking down the owners and working with the local health authority to ensure the animal's safety.

Meanwhile, the local population is experiencing great hardship. Many residents have been unable to return to their homes due to locked doors and the precarious condition of the buildings. Most have spent the night away from home, staying with relatives or sleeping in their cars. Tourists staying in local bed and breakfasts have also been affected.

Citizens complain about the lack of information

There have been protests from residents, who complain about a lack of information about the opening of the Palatrincone reception center and criticize the delayed response of emergency services, which arrived approximately two hours after the earthquake. Some residents, despite the dangerous nature of the buildings, were forced to temporarily return to check on the condition of their homes or retrieve essential medicines.

Firefighters have intensified inspection operations, issuing closure and evacuation orders for unsafe structures. Inspections are continuing to assess the extent of the damage and ensure the safety of the public.
