The Caserta Forestry Carabinieri identified and seized a van used for the illegal dumping of hazardous and non-hazardous waste on agricultural land in Casertavecchia. Four people were charged with this serious environmental crime.

Casertavecchia: Illegal disposal of hazardous waste discovered; van seized, four reported
An operation by the Caserta Forestry Carabinieri led to the discovery of an illegal dumping of hazardous and non-hazardous waste on an agricultural land located in Casola, in the Casertavecchia area.
The investigative activity began with a report sent to the Structure supporting Major General Giuseppe Vadalà, Sole Commissioner for the remediation of landfills and contaminated sites nationwide.
The military personnel, belonging to the Investigative Unit of the Environmental, Agri-food and Forestry Police (NIPAAF) and the Forestry Carabinieri Unit of Caserta, seized the waste, classified as hazardous and non-hazardous by the technicians of Arpac Caserta.
Thanks to the timely inspection and analysis of the traces found, which were attributable to building renovation materials, the investigation led to the identification of a local construction company as the perpetrator of the illegal waste disposal. The contribution of local residents was also crucial, as their testimonies and local video surveillance systems allowed the reconstruction of the events and the identification of the truck used for the transport.
The vehicle, rented to commit the crime, was identified and seized to prevent further incidents of illegal disposal. Four people, held responsible on various counts, have been reported to the judicial authorities.
The operation underscores the Carabinieri Forestali's ongoing commitment to combating illegal waste disposal, particularly in the so-called Land of Fires, where, despite ongoing prevention measures, criminal behavior that threatens public health and the environment persists.
