Campi Flegrei, the seismic swarm continues: 169 tremors. The number of injured and hospitalized has dropped to five.

Naples – The earth continues to tremble in the Phlegraean Fields. According to the latest bulletin issued by the Vesuvius Observatory of the INGV, since the powerful earthquake at 19:46 PM yesterday, 169 tremors have been recorded, with a maximum magnitude of 4.7. The epicenter was located in the municipality of Pozzuoli, where the most significant damage to structures, roads, and the port area was recorded.

The number of injured and the response of the rescue machine

The situation continues to be constantly updated, but the first positive signs are emerging on the healthcare front. This morning, at the end of the meeting of the Emergency Coordination Center (CCS), Naples Prefect Michele Di Bari took stock: "We note as positive news that, compared to the 21 hospitalized last night, we only have 5 today. All the others have been discharged."

The main shock caused several injuries, including two in critical condition, as well as widespread panic among the population. "I express my sympathy and solidarity to all those involved," Di Bari added. "The organizational machinery kicked into gear from the first minutes, operating optimally."

Reception and restoration of essential services

The authorities' attention is now focused on managing the area and supporting the frightened residents. The first reception facilities were immediately set up in Pozzuoli, providing approximately 200 beds for those who are unable to return home or have suffered damage to their homes.

The blackout that left thousands of customers without power yesterday evening has also been resolved: the power grid was fully restored by midnight. Regarding mobility, trains on the main railway network have resumed normal service following technical safety inspections. The Cumana line remains temporarily suspended, but inspections are ongoing and service is expected to be restored by tomorrow morning.
