General Fabrizio Parrulli strengthens the fight against wildfires in the Land of Fires.

The Commander of the Carabinieri Forestry, Environmental, and Agri-food Units, General Fabrizio Parrulli, visited the operational structures engaged in the fight against toxic fires in the Land of Fires, confirming the effectiveness of the joint model and promoting environmental education in the province of Caserta.

Lieutenant General Fabrizio Parrulli, head of the Carabinieri Forestry, Environmental and Agri-food Units (CUFAA), has conducted a series of visits to the main facilities involved in the fight against fires and illegal dumping in the Land of Fires.

The morning began at the Campania Carabinieri Forestry Department, where, welcomed by Brigadier General Ciro Lungo, he was able to see the progress of the new joint control room, a project coordinated by the Special Commissioner for the Suburbs, Prefect Fabio Ciciliano.

Together with Deputy Prefect Ciro Silvestro, the Chief Fire Officer, Parrulli met with personnel from the Naples Police Force, Italian Army, Fire Brigade, and Metropolitan Police, praising their commitment and emphasizing the importance of operational coordination for effective prevention and rapid response to fires.

The Control Room, equipped with an advanced video surveillance system provided by the Campania Region through SMA, represents a cutting-edge joint operational model, capable of ensuring extensive monitoring and timely intervention across the territory.

General Parrulli subsequently visited the Carabinieri Forestry Unit in Marcianise, a unit that has achieved significant results in combating illegal dumping and toxic fires. Thanks in part to the use of image capture systems on remediated sites under the supervision of the Sole Commissioner for Remediation, General Giuseppe Vadalà, the unit has made 13 arrests since the "Terra dei Fuochi" Decree (Legislative Decree no. 116/2025) came into force. The general expressed heartfelt thanks to the military personnel and the unit's commander, Chief Warrant Officer Aniello Cioffi, for their commitment and the results achieved.

The visit concluded at the Carabinieri Biodiversity Unit in Caserta, where General Parrulli, welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Marilena Scudieri, inaugurated the new Environmental Education Room dedicated to the Land of Fires and the protection of biodiversity. This facility will provide a training and awareness-raising platform for schools, environmental associations, and scout groups, promoting a culture of environmental legality and proper waste management.

Since 2024, the department has coordinated over 170 environmental education events in collaboration with the Caserta Carabinieri Forestry Group and the Vesuvius National Park Carabinieri Department, involving nearly 22 participants. General Parrulli praised the work of the military and staff involved in organizing the events, emphasizing the importance of keeping citizens' attention focused on environmental and legal issues.
