Castellammare – A senseless act of violence marred an evening of celebration and remembrance between the Juve Stabia and Cavese fans. A group of Juve Stabia fans launched firecrackers and firecrackers from the highway viaduct. Those responsible for this vile act have already been identified by the police, and formal charges and bans are being filed against them.

The ambush on the viaduct and the damage to Pagani

The incident occurred around 23:30 PM on Via Tramontano, in the city's foothills. The caravan of Stabia ultras was returning from Cava de' Tirreni, where they had attended the first memorial match dedicated to Catello Mari—the unfortunate footballer from Castellammare di Stabia, who died prematurely twenty years ago in a car accident while celebrating promotion to Serie C1 with Cavese.

Despite the convoy being escorted by law enforcement, the fans managed to stop along the highway between Salerno and Naples, right near Pagani. From there, they began hurling high-energy pyrotechnics toward the car dealership below, damaging several parked vehicles.

Images on social media and the rescue intervention

The entire scene was filmed by local residents, whose footage shows not only the explosion of the firecrackers but also various insults and taunts directed at the citizens of Paganese. The audio and video, sent to law enforcement and quickly spread on social media, proved crucial: thanks to the footage, the police tracked down the perpetrators.

The Carabinieri, the Highway Police and the Fire Brigade promptly intervened at the scene of the accident to secure the area and put out the fire risks.

The shadow of new restrictions and the anger of healthy fans

As online controversy escalates between the two historically rival fan bases, outrage is growing within the Juve Stabia fan community. Among the Gialloblu fans, there is strong fear that the Interior Ministry may soon impose a new travel ban, a measure that would impact the entire club, just as it did last year with a lengthy ban on away matches for the upcoming Serie B season.
