Pozzuoli: Attempted robbery: Carabiniere shoots at fleeing van, one arrested and three charged

During the night in Pozzuoli, Carabinieri officers from the company's operations unit and the local station intercepted an attempted robbery at a tobacco shop at Via Tito Livio 11. The criminals, driving a van, attempted to run over the Gazelle and fled. During the chase, a shot was fired from the vehicle, hitting the rear door.

The investigation led to the arrest of Luca Ciotola, 26, a resident of Pozzuoli, for attempted aggravated theft, resisting arrest, and receiving stolen goods. Three other people were also charged, including two minors aged 16 and 17 with no criminal record, and a 24-year-old already known to law enforcement.

By analyzing video surveillance footage, the Carabinieri located Ciotola's home, where they found clothing likely used during the incident, which had been put in the washing machine. A set of keys belonging to a nearby garage was found in the garage. They also found 50 rounds of 7.62 caliber ammunition, 39 rounds and a magazine for an AK-47, 50 rounds of 9x21 caliber ammunition, and 20 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition. Additionally, hundreds of burglary tools and other stolen goods related to several thefts in the Phlegraean Fields area over the past year were seized, as well as a balaclava and camouflage equipment.

Investigations are continuing to identify and track down the other three suspects.

The reconstruction continued by analyzing video surveillance footage, with the subsequent discovery of clothing used in the incident in Ciotola's home and items linked to the gang in the garage. The investigative efforts led to the identification of the other three suspects and the completion of part of the evidentiary case.

Investigations are continuing to clarify any connections with further incidents in the Phlegraean Fields area and to establish the specific roles of those involved.
