Naples, fire at the Municipality 1 headquarters: part of the Torretta offices destroyed

An overnight fire, most likely caused by vandalism, struck the Municipality of Naples's first municipal building. The flames started from the exterior of the building, on the side facing Via Giordano Bruno, and then rose to the second floor. The greatest damage was to windows and shutters, particularly affecting the rooms used by the vice president and social workers.

Mayor Manfredi's conviction

Mayor Gaetano Manfredi's reaction was immediate, expressing his solidarity with the entire administrative structure on behalf of the entire city council. "Our full solidarity goes to President Giovanna Mazzone, the administrators, and the employees," Manfredi stated.

We firmly condemn all forms of vandalism and violence against public places. Such acts harm those who work every day to serve the community: respect for public property is a cornerstone of civil coexistence.

The alarm from local institutions

Giovanna Mazzone, president of Municipality 1, also expressed serious concern, describing it as a truly "disturbing attack on an institutional building." Mazzone expressed hope that law enforcement will quickly investigate the situation and identify those responsible, while also making an appeal to the local community: "We are calling for increased security in the Torretta area to protect employees, residents, and institutions. The Municipality will continue its work with determination, without allowing itself to be intimidated."
