Naples: Gas leak on Via Caravaggio: A building, a bar, and a church evacuated.

Naples – Moments of apprehension in the Fuorigrotta neighborhood of Naples, where a gas leak from the underground network triggered a major security operation. The alarm was raised at number 300 Via Caravaggio, where the leak was detected from the roadway.

To ensure the safety of residents and prevent any risk, the Municipal Police ordered the immediate evacuation of the affected building. A total of seven families were evacuated. As a precaution, the adjacent bar and the nearby Parish of the Immaculate Conception of Lourdes were also evacuated.

The intervention of the emergency services

Municipal Police officers responded to the scene, cordoning off the area and assisting residents during evacuation operations. Specialized ItalGas teams were also deployed to pinpoint the exact location of the leak and plan the necessary technical intervention to restore network safety.

Traffic system modified

To allow for inspections and excavations to be carried out in maximum safety, the intersection of Via Caravaggio, Via Consalvo, and Via Terracina was temporarily closed to traffic, with inevitable repercussions on traffic in the area.

The technicians' operations will continue until the fault is fully identified and repaired, while the authorities are constantly monitoring the situation before authorizing residents to return to their evacuated homes.
