Naples - The Carabinieri continue their extraordinary patrols in the eastern part of Naples. Officers from the Poggioreale Company conducted a high-impact operation aimed at combating widespread crime, drug dealing, and traffic violations.
The operation resulted in 88 identified individuals, 64 vehicles checked, and 14 administrative fines issued for traffic violations. During the investigations, two individuals were also reported to the Prefecture for personal drug use.
Among the incidents uncovered during the checks, the Carabinieri reported a 54-year-old man for being caught driving his scooter with a modified license plate. According to the officers' findings, some of the lettering had been altered using a black marker, presumably to make it more difficult to identify the vehicle.
The search also included the common areas of public housing. In an apartment building on Via Alveo Artificiale, officers found 29 bags of marijuana hidden inside the stairwell handrail. The drugs were seized, and investigations are underway to identify those responsible for the cache.
The checks also involved several local businesses. On Via delle Repubbliche Marinare, a bar was fined approximately €10 after inspections revealed several food safety and regulatory irregularities.
The operation is part of a plan of extraordinary controls implemented by the Carabinieri to strengthen their presence in the area and combat illegal activities in the neighborhoods of eastern Naples.
