Osteopaths moving toward official recognition: registration with the National Order opens September 14, 2026.

An important milestone for the osteopathic profession has been reached: starting September 14, 2026, it will be possible to apply for registration in the Special Lists for Osteopaths, which are currently being exhausted.

The National Federation of Orders of Technical, Rehabilitation, and Prevention Health Professions (Fno Tsrm and Pstrp) has made the date official, after having approved the decision during the National Council on July 28th.

This event represents a crucial moment for the full recognition of osteopathy within the National Health Service (SSN). The regulatory process concluded with the publication in the Official Journal of the decree on the equivalence of qualifications (Prime Ministerial Decree of March 25, 2026), which defines the criteria for the recognition of qualifications and professional experience. Thanks to this, osteopaths will be able to register with the Tsrm and Pstrp Orders and practice their profession with full legitimacy.

The Federation is finalizing the final organizational details, and in the coming weeks, the application submission procedures will be published on the institutional portals and those of the 59 territorial Orders. The provincial and interprovincial governing councils will evaluate the requests in accordance with the decree. Diego Catania, President of the FNO Tsrm and Pstrp, emphasized the importance of this achievement, calling it the culmination of a long process of recognizing osteopathy in the National Health System.

The goal now is to support osteopaths through this transition, ensuring they enjoy equal protection, dignity, and responsibility with other healthcare professions. Thousands of professionals will thus be able to complete their accreditation process, ensuring greater guarantees for citizens and better integration into the national healthcare system.
