The emergency continues in the Campi Flegrei area following the 4.7 magnitude earthquake that struck the Solfatara area of Pozzuoli on July 31. The latest bulletin from the Naples Provincial Fire Brigade depicts a still complex situation: 89 buildings have been evacuated, for a total of 525 affected residential units.
Since the beginning of the emergency, firefighters have already carried out 382 interventions, but 767 inspections still remain to be completed to ascertain the safety conditions of the buildings damaged by the earthquake.
In parallel with structural checks, rescuers are also providing assistance to the affected population regarding water supplies. In Pozzuoli, three 100-kiloliter tankers have been dispatched to distribute non-potable water to families left without service.
"Our Command is currently fully committed on all fronts," said Giuseppe Paduano, Provincial Commander of the Naples Fire Brigade. "The gradual strengthening of our operations, thanks to the contribution of Commands across Italy, the Campania Region, and the Regional Directorate, is allowing us to respond increasingly effectively to the population's needs."
The commander explained that, in addition to checking the stability of the buildings, the firefighters are ensuring the protection of cultural heritage, supporting residents in recovering their belongings in coordination with the local police, and providing assistance to families affected by the water main interruption.
«We will continue to operate with maximum effort, without interruption, to protect the public and private safety of the citizens affected by this seismic event», concluded Paduano, inviting the population to remain calm and to contact the emergency number 115 only in situations of real danger, so as not to congest the emergency lines.
