The risk of a rent surge in the Phlegraean Fields is on the government's agenda. Regarding the potential for rent increases linked to the housing emergency caused by the earthquake, the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, has announced the adoption of several measures in conjunction with the Guardia di Finanza.

"To counteract the potential for rising rents, the Guardia di Finanza has taken several measures," the prefect explained at the end of the session of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety.

Di Bari also emphasized the need for concrete support for those who have lost their homes: "I would like to launch an appeal for solidarity so that we can show great support to those who no longer have a home."

The message was also addressed to the local community, where, according to the prefect, there has been no shortage of gestures of support for the displaced: "And there have been people who are showing great support to those who don't have a home."

Regarding the housing emergency, over 90 percent of the displaced have already found independent accommodation. The prefect considers this a positive development, as institutions continue to address the consequences of the emergency.

The Committee also reviewed the monitoring services for homes left vacant after evictions. Di Bari expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the anti-looting efforts, which were put in place to protect properties temporarily left unattended.

Attention therefore remains focused on two fronts: ensuring protection for the homes of displaced people and preventing potential speculation on the rental market in an area already severely affected by the emergency.
