Pozzuoli: Caritas opens housing assistance center following the tremors in Campi Flegrei.
Caritas Pozzuoli has launched a counseling center for those experiencing housing difficulties following the earthquake of July 31st in Campi Flegrei. The initiative was announced during a visit by National Director Don Marco Pagniello to the diocesan center, where he discussed the impact on vulnerable families, particularly the elderly and people with disabilities.
The help desk will offer support to those facing rent and utility bills, as well as issues related to distance from essential services such as school and work. Father Giuseppe Carulli, director of the diocesan Caritas, emphasized the importance of raising awareness among neighboring dioceses to find affordable housing.
The service involves volunteers with diverse skills—including listening experts, lawyers, psychologists, psychotherapists, and counselors—and will work in collaboration with the Municipality of Pozzuoli and the regional Civil Protection Department. The goal is to offer concrete support to those who have lost their jobs or are experiencing a period of vulnerability due to the housing crisis caused by the earthquakes.
