Shock in Caserta: Homeless Man Beaten to Death in the Square

Caserta is in shock over the death of Guido, the former waiter and homeless man who was seriously injured in a violent attack in Piazza Sant'Anna. He died in the hospital after two days of agony.

According to local news reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, when Guido was reportedly attacked and repeatedly hit by another man.

A man of Ukrainian origin was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter. Authorities are currently investigating the case.

Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of parliament for the Green and Left Alliance, also spoke out about the tragedy, calling for justice for Guido and a concrete response on the social front.

"Justice for Guido" was the thrust of Borrelli's speech, calling the incident an "inhumane act of violence" against someone already severely affected by life. The MP also stressed the need to strengthen social services and not abandon the most vulnerable.

Guido's death thus refocuses attention on the conditions of the homeless and, more generally, on the need to build a support network capable of intercepting the most vulnerable situations before they become emergencies.
