Another year of solidarity contracts for workers at the Stellantis plant in Pomigliano d'Arco. The agreement to extend the social safety net, which expires on August 21st, was reached following a videoconference meeting at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, which was also attended by representatives of the Campania Region.
The announcement was made by FIM, FIOM, UILM, FISMIC, UGL, and AQCF, which participated in the joint review with the company. Stellantis cited the extension as the continuing crisis in the automotive sector, impacted by economic uncertainty and the complex international environment.
"The company has justified its request for an extension of the social safety net by citing the ongoing crisis affecting the automotive sector, exacerbated by the current international economic and geopolitical context, which continues to generate significant uncertainty about the sector's prospects," the unions explained in a joint statement.
During the meeting, the automotive group also confirmed the E-Car platform project for its Campania plant. The plan calls for the production of three new compact electric vehicle models starting in 2028, accompanied by a significant investment program.
However, the trade unions have requested guarantees regarding the management of the new solidarity phase, indicating as a priority the fair distribution of working days among all employees, with particular attention to those with reduced working capacity.
Also at the center of the discussions was the reorganization of production activities in light of the potential reduction in volumes related to the Alfa Romeo Tonale model. This decline, according to the unions, could lead to an increase in the number of days covered by the solidarity contract.
