Storm warning in Campania
The Campania Region Civil Protection Department has issued a yellow weather alert valid from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM today, Saturday, August 8, throughout the region. The warning, based on the Functional Center's assessment of current weather scenarios and their evolution, predicts isolated showers and thunderstorms, locally moderate in intensity.
Thunderstorms are characterized by high forecast uncertainty and rapid development. Hail, gusts of wind, lightning, and falling branches or trees are also possible, potentially damaging roofs and exposed structures.
The warning from the Functional Centre highlights a hydrogeological risk: possible rise in the hydrometric levels of minor watercourses, flooding of surrounding areas, flooding of underground and ground-floor rooms, surface water flow on roads, backflow of wastewater systems with overflows in depressed urban areas, rockfall and occasional landslides in hydrogeologically fragile areas.
The competent authorities are urged to implement all structural and non-structural measures envisaged in their respective municipal Civil Protection plans to prevent, mitigate, and counteract the expected phenomena.
