Naples Weather August 8st
Summer 2026 continues to show its most extreme side. The African anticyclone remains the dominant force over Naples and the entire Campania region, bringing stable weather, mostly clear skies, and temperatures well above seasonal averages.
In Naples, temperatures will hover between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius, but the perceived heat may be significantly higher due to high humidity, especially during the central hours of the day. The sea will generally be calm or slightly rough, with light breezes.
In the rest of Campania the weather conditions will remain substantially unchanged:
Caserta and Benevento will be among the hottest areas in the region, with temperatures nearing 36 degrees in inland areas.
Avellino will experience a very hot day, but with the possibility of modest afternoon clouds along the Apennine mountains.
Salerno and the Amalfi Coast will benefit from the sea breeze, despite high temperatures between 31 and 34 degrees.
Brief thunderstorms are possible only in the mountainous areas of the Apennines during the afternoon, while along the coast the weather will remain stable and sunny.
The heat alert remains high. Naples continues to be among the cities with the highest health risks associated with heat waves. Authorities recommend limiting physical activity during the hottest hours, drinking plenty of water, avoiding direct sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and paying particular attention to the most vulnerable. The City of Naples has also issued warnings regarding the ongoing heat wave.
No significant changes are foreseen at this time. According to the latest forecasts, high pressure will continue to affect central and southern Italy in the coming days. A possible easing of the heat may not arrive until after mid-August, but currently, projections indicate that Campania will remain under the influence of the so-called "heat dome," with temperatures consistently above average for the period.
For those planning a day at the beach or a visit to Campania's tourist destinations, it's essential to set off in the early morning or late afternoon, avoiding the midday hours. Sunscreen, a hat, water, and frequent breaks in the shade remain essential allies to face another day of exceptional heat.
