The Campania Region requests clarification from the Municipality of Barano d'Ischia regarding the illegal resort.

The Campania Region has formally requested the Municipality of Barano d'Ischia to provide a detailed report on the investigations and administrative measures adopted in relation to a complex of illegal buildings discovered in the Capogrosso-Scarrupata area.

The affected area, located on the coast of Ischia, is classified as particularly fragile due to its high geological and geotechnical risk, as well as its landscape value.

The request was sent to both the municipal administration and the technical offices and local police, and was signed by the regional councilor for Land Management and Heritage, Vincenzo Cuomo, and the General Director of the Land Management Directorate, architect Alberto Romeo Gentile.

The measure follows the seizure by the Carabinieri of a complex system of illegal constructions, the spread of which was reported by the media.

Councilor Cuomo emphasized the importance of collaboration between all levels of government to protect sensitive areas like Ischia. "Areas of scenic value and at very high landslide risk require the utmost attention," he stated, urging the Municipality to respond promptly and transparently. The Region has also made itself available for any form of support aimed at safeguarding the area.

The incident once again highlights the need for rigorous controls and careful management of construction in high-risk areas, especially in island settings characterized by environmental and landscape fragility.
