Torre Annunziata: Man caught on e-bike with 8kg of blondes: he had another 200kg hidden in his house

Torre Annunziata – An unusual cargo on an electric bicycle betrayed a smuggler and led to the seizure of over 200 kilograms of illegal cigarettes. The operation was launched in the municipality of Torre Annunziata, as part of the plan to intensify local controls implemented by the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples for the summer.

The e-bike escape and the first arrest

The raid was carried out by the "Baschi Verdi" (Green Basques) of the Torre Annunziata Group during a patrol in the most at-risk neighborhoods of the city of Oplonti. Passing near Penniniello Park, the officers noticed a man riding an e-bike, clearly weighed down by several large bags.

Upon seeing the patrol, the man attempted a quick escape through the neighborhood streets. The chase lasted only a few moments: the finance police stopped him and searched him, discovering over 8 kilograms of foreign-produced tobacco products without the state seal inside the bags.

The search: the house transformed into a warehouse

The strong state of agitation demonstrated by the arrested man, combined with specific precedents against him, pushed the Green Berets to further investigate and extend the search to his home.

Once inside the apartment, the financial police found themselves faced with a veritable clandestine hub for "blondes." The house contained hundreds of packs of cigarettes from the most well-known and widely distributed brands on the market (including Marlboro, Camel, Winston, Chesterfield, and L&M). At the end of the operation, the recovered and seized merchandise weighed a total of over 223 kilograms.

The man was immediately placed under house arrest and the matter was reported to the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office.
