Wild boars invade the Baia Arena boardwalk in Cilento: tourists are stranded.

Late yesterday afternoon, a family of wild boars surprised tourists on the beach at Baia Arena, in Cilento, creating a blockade on the wooden walkway that connects the pine forest to the beach.

Probably attracted by the waste left in the recycling bins, the ungulates blocked pedestrian access for several minutes, causing moments of apprehension among those present. Fortunately, no incidents occurred, and the animals quickly moved away, returning to the Mediterranean scrub and re-establishing normality.

However, the frequency of these sightings is increasing, causing growing concern for residents and vacationers. In response to this emergency, the Regional Department of Agriculture at Palazzo Santa Lucia has established a permanent Technical Operations Committee, with the aim of monitoring the situation, sharing data, and developing effective strategies for the prevention, control, and containment of wild boar presence in Campania.
