Arezzo: A 22-year-old from the province of Salerno was arrested with over 100 gold jewels worth €120.

He was traveling on the E45 with over 100 gold jewelry items, worth a total of approximately €120, but was unable to provide an explanation for the jewels' provenance. A 22-year-old man originally from the province of Salerno and residing in the province of Avellino was arrested by the Carabinieri in Sansepolcro, in the Arezzo area, for receiving stolen goods.

The young man was stopped while driving a rental car in the province of Florence. During the check, his particularly nervous behavior aroused the suspicions of the officers of the Sansepolcro Company, who decided to proceed with further investigations.

A search of the driver and the vehicle uncovered over €400 in cash and more than 100 pieces of gold jewelry. The jewelry, estimated to be worth approximately €120,000, was seized along with the cash.

The 22-year-old was subsequently arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen goods. The investigation is now continuing under the coordination of the Arezzo Public Prosecutor's Office, with the aim of reconstructing the jewelry's provenance and determining its possible destination.

Investigators will also need to determine whether the jewelry is related to previous thefts or other crimes. The young man's situation remains under judicial review, respecting the presumption of innocence until a final sentence is issued.
