Cancello and Arnone, two illegal asbestos dumps under seizure

Two illegal landfills of waste containing asbestos were seized by the Caserta Provincial Police in the Cancello and Arnone areas. Officers identified two separate areas, both near agricultural land, where asbestos and Eternit sheets had been abandoned and illegally stored.

The operation is part of the intensification of environmental controls ordered by Provincial President Anacleto Colombiano, with the aim of protecting the territory and combating waste dumping and illegal waste management.

The operation was coordinated by the commander of the Provincial Police, Biagio Chiariello.
The investigations led to the identification of the materials and the seizure of the two areas, which are now at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The presence of asbestos, especially if deteriorated, requires specific safety, removal, and remediation measures, according to the procedures established by law.

Those responsible have been charged with environmental violations related to the construction and management of an illegal hazardous waste landfill. The Provincial Police are continuing their investigations to reconstruct the origin of the materials and determine any further liability.
