Castel Volturno – A call to 112 and swift intervention by the Carabinieri nipped in the bud an attempted burglary at a home in Castel Volturno. On the evening of September 16, officers from the local station, supported by the Mondragone Territorial Unit, identified and charged a 33-year-old local man, already known to law enforcement, with attempted burglary (Articles 56 and 624-bis of the Criminal Code).
According to the Carabinieri's reconstruction, the incident began with a neighbor's report, who alerted law enforcement of a possible burglary in progress. Carabinieri from the Castel Volturno station arrived first, followed by investigative support from the Mondragone unit. The investigations allowed them to reconstruct the incident: the 33-year-old allegedly forced the front door of the building, then attempted to enter.
The attempt, however, was unsuccessful: the resident's alarm and the prompt arrival of the military interrupted the attempt, preventing access to the apartment and preventing the theft.
Thanks to the evidence gathered during the on-site inspections and subsequent checks, investigators traced the incident back to the 33-year-old, who has been reported to the competent judicial authorities. The Prosecutor's Office was informed of the incident by the Castel Volturno Police Department, which is taking further steps. The proceedings are in the preliminary investigation phase: the suspect's responsibility will be determined by a final sentence, without prejudice to the presumption of innocence.
The incident reaffirms the importance of residents' reports: a neighbor's call allowed the Carabinieri to intervene quickly, reconstruct the events, and identify the alleged perpetrator. This collaborative model, according to law enforcement, remains crucial in preventing and repressing property crimes.
