Naples – On Saturday, October 3, 2026, the Certosa di San Martino will exceptionally open at sunrise for an immersive tour along the terraces once walked by the Carthusians. The initiative, promoted by the National Museums of Vomero, will open to the public a section of the famous "monks' walk," one of the museum's most exclusive and panoramic routes.
The meeting is at 6:00 a.m., when visitors will be welcomed live by the Quartetto di Napoli. Their opening repertoire ranges from Luis Gianneo's Andean folklore to Giuseppe Martucci's Italian chamber music tradition, accompanying the walk through the green terraces.
The tour concludes near the 18th-century Coffeehouse: here, from 7:00 to 7:30, the second performance takes place, dedicated to the sunrise from behind Vesuvius. The dawn soundtrack is Antonín Dvořák's famous "American" Quartet.
Participation is limited to a maximum of 80 visitors. The special ticket costs €15 and can be purchased online on the Musei Italiani website by 6:30 a.m. on October 3rd, or at the ticket office the day before, subject to availability. For the morning on Vomero Hill, layered clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended, due to the cool temperatures and the outdoor tour.
When: Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 6:00 to approximately 7:30.
Where: Certosa di San Martino, Largo San Martino 5, Naples (Vomero).
