Coroglio: Roadside checks and awareness campaigns against drunk driving in nightlife venues.

The State Police is stepping up its efforts to prevent road accidents and raise awareness of the risks associated with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In the Coroglio area, as part of the national project "This Evening I'm Driving," an initiative combining roadside checks and local information campaigns has been implemented, promoted in collaboration with the ANIA Foundation, SILB FIPE, SIB FIPE, and Feder Balneari Italia.

The operation involved the Naples Traffic Police Section, the Sorrento Detachment, and the UPGSP, with checks aimed at combating drunk driving and drug use. A total of 100 people were monitored, including 54 drivers accompanied by vehicles. Nineteen violations of the Highway Code were issued, four of which related to driving under the influence of alcohol (Article 186, paragraph 2, letter b).

The administrative consequences included the deduction of 80 points in total and the revocation of four driving licenses, as well as one vehicle registration document. Additionally, one vehicle was seized.

Concurrent with the road activity, some of the staff held an awareness-raising event at a nightlife venue in Coroglio, meeting with young people and explaining the risks associated with alcohol, drug, and psychotropic substances. They also conducted a hands-on simulation of their effects on driving skills using headsets. The road course highlighted the challenges of perception, balance, and vehicle control.

During the meeting, the role of the "designated driver" was introduced as a responsible behavior to be adopted within the group to ensure a safe return home at the end of the evening.

The initiative demonstrates how controls and prevention can be integrated with direct dialogue in nightlife venues, promoting greater awareness of risks and the adoption of responsible driving behavior.
