Grazzanise: Illegal landfill seized in agricultural area, over 5.600 cubic meters of waste

An agricultural area of ​​over seven thousand square meters has apparently been transformed into an illegal landfill for hazardous waste, much of it potentially hazardous. This is what the Carabinieri of the Grazzanise station found this morning, when they responded to Via della Pietra as part of a local inspection.

Following their investigation, the officers reported a 51-year-old local man to the judicial authorities. He is believed to be the owner of the land and the abandoned farmhouse located within the area. He is charged with aggravated unauthorized waste management.

During the inspection, the military discovered a significant amount of waste, estimated at approximately 5.680 cubic meters, on unsealed ground. Some of the waste was also found buried.

The materials identified include construction waste, asbestos sheets, discarded tires, drums and plastic bags with unidentified contents, and the wreckage of a car that, according to findings, had been set on fire.

This environmental situation prompted the Carabinieri to take immediate action to protect the area. The entire agricultural land, covering approximately 7.150 square meters, along with the disused building, was placed under preventive seizure and handed over to the owner for judicial custody.

Investigations will continue in the competent authorities to characterize the materials found and determine the exact nature and origin of the waste. The man's position remains under judicial review, and, as required by law, all liability must be determined with a final decision.
