Illegal toys and asbestos scare: seizures and fines in Alta Irpinia

Montella – Carabinieri in Montella seized numerous items and toys from two shops in Alta Irpinia. The products lacked the CE marking, the manufacturer's name, or the mandatory warnings in Italian for purchasers.
The checks are part of the provisions issued by the Ministry of Health and the Chambers of Commerce to verify the presence, in toys on sale, of sand contaminated by tremolite, a type of asbestos.
Some of the seized items are considered high-risk for children. The two businesses, run by Chinese traders, were fined a total of €6.
