The Amerigo Vespucci has returned home: 8 tours booked in Castellammare di Stabia.

Castellammare – The Amerigo Vespucci is home. The most beautiful ship in the world has been in the port of Castellammare since yesterday, just meters from the shipyard where she was built in 1931.

It entered the sea at precisely 11:00 a.m., accompanied by two tugboats. And since yesterday afternoon, when the port reopened to the public, hundreds of locals and tourists have flocked to the docks to admire its beauty and majesty.

Tours will begin at 2:00 PM today, and the four scheduled sessions sold out in just a few hours. Eight thousand people managed to book. The joy of the people of Castellammare di Stabia is truly immense at seeing the most beautiful jewel in their hometown again.

The training ship will depart Castellammare di Stabia tomorrow evening around 12:00 pm, bound for Naples. From September 20th to 25th, it will be docked at the Maritime Station – Molo Beverello.

The presence in the Campania capital will coincide with one of the most anticipated events of the sailing season: the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup Preliminary Regatta in Naples, scheduled for September 24th to 27th.

The Vespucci and the America's Cup, two symbols of the sea

The Naples leg will feature the meeting of two great icons of maritime tradition and innovation: the Amerigo Vespucci and the America's Cup.

A bond that has its roots in the New York stopover last July, when the world's oldest sporting trophy boarded the Vespucci for the first time, during the ship's stay in the Big Apple for the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States.

On September 23, thanks to the collaboration with Sport e Salute, a delegation of the teams competing in the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup Naples Preliminary Regatta will board the Vespucci to celebrate the start of the second Preliminary Regatta.

The America's Cup trophy, considered the oldest international sporting trophy still in dispute, will also be present again.

Created in London in 1848 as an elegant silver jug, the trophy took the name America's Cup after the yacht America's victory in the 1851 fleet race around the Isle of Wight. Since then, it has become one of the world's symbols of sailing and sporting competition, linked to over 170 years of challenges between the major international yacht clubs.

Ministers and Navy leaders on board

During their stay in Naples, the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto, the CEO of Difesa Servizi Luca Andreoli, the President of Sport e Salute Marco Mezzaroma, the CEO of Sport e Salute Diego Nepi Molineris and the CEO of the America's Cup Partnership Marzio Perrelli are expected on board the Amerigo Vespucci.

Also on September 23, aboard the Vespucci, the commander of the Italian Navy's Logistics Command, Admiral Vincenzo Montanaro, Luca Andreoli, and Barcolana president Mitja Gialuz will announce the conclusion of the Amerigo Vespucci World Tour – North America Campaign 2026 in Trieste, during the 58th edition of the Barcolana, also presenting the program of events.

From Naples to Venice, then Trieste

After Naples, the Amerigo Vespucci will continue its voyage towards the Venetian lagoon. From October 2nd to 7th, it will be docked in Venice, at Riva di San Biasio, opposite the Naval History Museum.

The presence in Venice will coincide with the 15th edition of the Trans-Regional Seapower Symposium (T-RSS), one of the main international forums dedicated to maritime cooperation and security, scheduled for 6 and 7 October 2026 at the Arsenale della Marina Militare.

The campaign will conclude in Trieste, on the occasion of the 58th Barcolana and the arrival in the Julian capital of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce, an international long-distance sailing competition in the Mediterranean.

The Vespucci opens its doors to the public

Great attention is also paid to onboard tours. The Amerigo Vespucci will be open to the public on September 21st, 22nd, and 24th.

Tours are free, but reservations are required through the official Tour Vespucci portal.
