Signed by the Comitato Tassisti di Base, SITAN/ATN, UNIMPRESA, and FEDERTAXI/CISAL, the document expresses "deep concern" over the absence of the relevant institutional figures, particularly the Transport and Legality councilors.

A “disrespectful” absence

According to the unions, the Municipality's absence isn't just an organizational issue, but a political signal: "This behavior, from our perspective, appears incomprehensible and disrespectful not only toward the taxi industry, but also toward the prefect's office and the role it plays as the state's representative in the area." The signatories speak to a now-consolidated feeling among workers: that of a municipal administration that doesn't prioritize direct and ongoing dialogue with the taxi industry.

High fuel prices and costs: the daily crisis

The press release details an increasingly dire economic situation. Taxi drivers are reporting high fuel prices, traffic, rising vehicle operating costs, reduced productivity, and resulting economic hardship for workers. These are concrete problems that, according to trade unions, risk becoming unsustainable without immediate action.

Another critical front is the regional one. The unions recall that on July 31, 2026, the issue of a one-time payment to support the category for high fuel costs was addressed at the Prefect's offices. Since then, however, "despite the discussions initiated and the requests made, we have noted a worrying institutional silence from this as well."

Taxi representatives reject any interpretation based on representativeness or membership numbers: "We're talking about workers here, and a category facing an increasingly difficult economic situation." Therefore, they are appealing to the Prefect to intervene so that "the competent institutions finally assume their responsibilities and provide concrete answers."

Facts, not postponements

The statement concludes with an explicit warning: continuing to postpone decisions and limiting oneself to appeals to the public is a failure to take responsibility for one's role as administrators and is exacerbating an already dire situation. The risk, they write, is that many operators will no longer be able to sustain "all the regional and municipal tax burdens associated with their own and their family's businesses."
