Naples, Roberto Bolle and Carolyn Smith are the faces of Human Faces: art in the fight against cancer.

Roberto Bolle is the new face of Human Faces – Art for Life. The ballet star, along with choreographer and judge of Dancing with the Stars Carolyn Smith, will be the face of the photography exhibition that will take place at the Maschio Angioino in Naples from October 3rd to 9th. The aim: to discuss cancer, prevention, and research through portraits.

The project, conceived by Ludovico Lieto and photographed by Sergio Goglia, is curated by Valeria Viscione and sponsored by the City of Naples. It is part of the city's cultural program. Smith also offers a personal account: for years, she has publicly shared her experience with breast cancer.

From the set to the hospital, the faces of the campaign

The two dance stars join an already impressive roster. Previous editions, dedicated to disability and inclusion, have included Cristina Chiabotto, Cristina Donadio, Roberto Faraone Mennella, Fabio Fulco, Bill Goodson, Maurizio Marinella, Ferzan Ozpetek, Fausto Puglisi, Luisa Ranieri, and Lambert Wilson.

This time, the theme changes. Human Faces focuses on oncological diseases, with a particular focus on breast cancer. It also focuses on the work of Dr. Michelino De Laurentiis, director of the Department of Breast and Thoracic-Pulmonary Oncology at the National Cancer Institute "Fondazione G. Pascale" in Naples.

Goglia's goal and Lieto's words

The heart of the exhibition remains Sergio Goglia's portraits. Familiar faces are transformed into a visual narrative that seeks emotion and, at the same time, reflection on prevention and the daily work of doctors and researchers.

"We chose to dedicate this new edition to cancer because we believe that art can also contribute to raising awareness," explains Lieto. "The faces of the testimonials, captured through Sergio Goglia's lens, become a tool for discussing prevention, research, and the importance of supporting those who work in this field every day."

The project has already had national and international recognition, thanks in part to collaboration with the Permanent Representation of Italy to the United Nations, when the theme was inclusion.

The calendar: from Maschio Angioino to Santa Lucia

After the Castle, the Neapolitan exhibition continues from October 16th to 25th at the Hotel Santa Lucia, on the seafront. The exhibition will then resume its tour of Italy and abroad.

Organized by Visivo Comunicazione. Partners supporting the initiative include DLC Diagnostica Laboratori Campania, the Ninni Scognamiglio and Co. Diagnostic Center, the Tartaglia Center, the DìVì Lab Analysis Laboratory, Diagnostica Anniballo, Auto Bruognolo, De Cristofaro, Space Factory, Puntacastello, Galleria Borbonica, Hotel Santa Lucia, Regina Margherita, Sorrentino Vesuvio, Agorà Morelli, Kukai, Generalprint, Roccobabà, and Rocchino.

A week of portraits in one of Naples's iconic landmarks, sharing a simple message: art can shine a spotlight where prevention, research, and support for the sick are needed.
