Naples, Porta Capuana: 61-year-old drug dealer arrested after being caught selling drugs.

Naples – The increased vigilance of law enforcement and government officials in the Porta Capuana area is beginning to bear fruit. Following ongoing protests and requests from residents and business owners, who have long called for greater security and stronger enforcement of the area, the Naples Police Headquarters continues to implement extraordinary measures to combat drug dealing and other illegal activities.

Yesterday, officers from the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station arrested a 61-year-old man, already known to law enforcement and with a criminal record, on charges of illegal possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.

The operation took place in Vico dei Candelari, where police officers, engaged in a territorial control operation, noticed the 61-year-old taking a package from an envelope and handing it to another person in exchange for a banknote.

The officers intervened immediately, interrupting the sale and detaining both individuals. During the search, the man was found in possession of eight packages of cocaine, weighing approximately two grams in total, and six packages of heroin, also weighing approximately two grams. €945 in cash, divided into banknotes of various denominations, was also seized.

The buyer was also stopped and found in possession of the newly purchased dose. He was issued an administrative fine for illegal possession of a narcotic intended for personal use.

The 61-year-old was arrested and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities, as part of the drug-dealing prevention and repression efforts that the Police Headquarters is intensifying in the Porta Capuana area and surrounding areas. The checks come after weeks of reports and public complaints from residents and business owners, concerned about incidents of degradation, fights, and petty crime.

Recent extraordinary operations in the area have led to the identification of numerous people and the check of vehicles and businesses.

The arrest represents a further step forward in the ongoing investigative and enforcement efforts across the country, with increased patrol presence and targeted interventions in areas considered most at risk of drug dealing and other crimes.

The arrest was made during the preliminary investigation phase: the suspect is presumed innocent until a final sentence is reached.
