The hospital becomes the first in Italy to adopt an innovative platform for the multimodal analysis of single cells, with applications ranging from pediatric oncology to immunological diseases.

Santobono Pausilipon in Naples enhances pediatric research with advanced cellular analysis technology.
The AORN Santobono Pausilipon IRCCS in Naples has pioneered the use of a cutting-edge technological platform for multimodal single-cell analysis, marking a significant milestone in Italian pediatric research. This technology, already operational, allows for the examination of the biological characteristics of individual cells in unprecedented detail, combining high-dimensional cytometry and real-time cell imaging.
This innovation will allow scientists to deepen their understanding of the mechanisms that regulate various pediatric diseases, both oncological and non-oncological, fostering the development of more precise diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Peppino Mirabelli, the newly appointed director of the Clinical Pathology complex, emphasized that the acquisition is the result of integrated work between research, administration, and bioengineering, strengthening the hospital's role as a center of excellence.
Rodolfo Conenna, General Manager, emphasized that the IRCCS designation confirms the hospital's mission of combining care, research, and innovation. The investment in this scientific infrastructure aims to more rapidly transform research findings into tangible benefits for young patients and their families, thus consolidating Santobono Pausilipon's national position in pediatric research.
